MARK C. PHILLIPS Mark Phillips is a partner. Since becoming an attorney in 1990, he has handled mediations, arbitrations, trials and appeals in State and Federal Courts throughout California involving Insurance Coverage/Bad Faith, SIU/Examinations Under Oath, Professional Liability, Construction Defect, Product Liability, Surety, Site Accidents, Catastrophic Personal Injury, and Business Litigation matters. He also drafts corporate and transactional documents. Mark is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He has presented training seminars to lawyers and claims staffs. Before joining the firm, he served as claims counsel at a major insurance company. He has published several law review articles and white papers. He is a former judge pro tem of the Contra Costa County Superior Court. A representative case is Alex R. Thomas & Co. v. Mutual Insurance Casualty Insurance Company, 98 Cal.App.4th 66 (2002), which resulted in a finding of no coverage for a first-party property loss claim. A third-generation Californian and native of Los Angeles, Mark is married, and has three sons and three granddaughters. He likes to travel, read, and write, is involved with DIY projects and amateur "ham" radio, and is active in various fraternal organizations. EDUCATION
